Introduction

In addition to my articles on musical science, (Ex.«Minimal description-lenght and Musical Analisys») and my final thesis of the Univesidad «Project of a computer science system for the musical analysis» I have continued with a masters in sonología where sucesicamente with some professors of physics and computer science we have created the Sound Laboratory and the same university...

The main preoccupation was the one to understand the fundamental and wonderful concept of the word sound, without which it had been impossible to develop all the theory on the propagation of the waves, acoustics, ect.

What is the sound? A musician is very important to know the characteristics fundamental the sound well. Composers like Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Puccini had a species of obsession by the sound, the color. Ravel very considered the sonoridades of the overtones when orchestrating, which facilitated to him to create new instruments or to imitate, for example, an organ with corno, flautín and an Oboe.

In spite of being born with an ear, we practically do not know what is the sound. It comes from Latin sonus -- century XIII -- and it is possible to be defined as a disturbance of undulatory type that propagates in an average elastic and that generates a sensation auditory and can be perceived by a living being with all its variants: serious, acute, estridente sound. The physical study of the sonorous phenomena, that constitute the physical acoustics, has gone away progressively extending superficially and below the field of frequencies for which the human ear is sensible, osea respectively to the ultrasounds (for frequencies superior to 20,000 Hertz) and to the infrasounds (for inferior frequencies to 15-20 Hertz). The word «sound», by extension, can be noise or can be hard, sweet, shining, etc. derive impressions here from grace, of harmony given of the pronunciación of a word, a phrase or similar, like «the sound of a verse». By extension, the sound meant «means»: the sound of its words was mythical, but the meaning was very different. Also, more poetically, quizo sound to say «voice», «word», «fame» in these verses of G. Leopardi: «Or dov'è il son/ di que' popoli antichi» («Where it is the sound now/of those old towns»). Formerly, sound meant, also, Aryan, piece, musical composition. It is for that reason, that Chopin, from a particular vibration of a simple note, towards being born a Nocturnal whole number. Conclusion: sound=composition.
